The Chairman of North Wiltshire District Council has presented the Wiltshire Air Ambulance with a cheque for over £5,000.

Each year the Chairman adopts a charity and a series of events are held to help raise funds. Last May the Chairman, Cllr Dianne Moore, selected the Wiltshire Air Ambulance as the Chairman’s charity. The money has been raised through a series of events including staff dress-down days at the Council offices; A collection at last summers North Wiltshire Festival and an Auction of promises in association with BUPA
The Air Ambulance is funded completely by charity through the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal and each year the charity has to raise £320,000 in order to keep the aircraft flying its missions of mercy. The Wiltshire Air Ambulance is a joint project between Wiltshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust and The Wiltshire Constabulary. The unit has been in operation since 1990 and provided aid to a great many people.
Mary Laing, the Appeal Administrator said, We are very grateful for the enormous support that the people of North Wiltshire have shown us. The Chairman’s Charity donation will go along way to ensuring that we will be able to keep flying and providing the Air Ambulance service to the people of Wiltshire.”
Cllr, Dianne Moore travelled to the Police Headquarters in Devizes to have a look around the helicopter and present a cheque for £5084.91 to Paramedic Shaun Russel, afterwards Dianne said, The Wiltshire Air Ambulance is an extremely worthwhile cause and I am delighted to present this cheque. The money has been raised through a series of events and my thanks go to all those who have supported my chosen charity this year. The helicopter and its team provide an essential service to the people of Wiltshire and this is our way of saying thank-you!”
